It seems like there are so many people expecting little ones this time of year! If you have a friend or loved one with a baby on the way, you want to make sure they get the very best. After all, buying eco-friendly baby gifts is more than just the “hip” thing to do. When a new person comes into the world, you can help to make it a better place by giving them something natural. Everything that touches a baby’s skin should be soft, clean, and pure—so give the baby clothing, towels, and bedding that’s made of 100% organic cotton or wool. There are many specialty stores out there that handle pesticide-free natural textiles. Even better, many department stores have natural selections in their baby boutiques or online catalogs. Organic soaps, detergents, and natural bleaches are ideal to keep the baby’s clothing clean and fresh, too. Know how to knit or crochet? Recycle yarn or use yarn that’s made from organic cotton or wool.

Wood toys are great for the earth, too. They’re sturdy, beautiful, and they might last long enough for the baby’s own children! Look for wooden toys that are solid, splinter free, and made of sustainable wood.
