We’re all about keeping Mother Nature happy all year long. So how do you cope with the challenge of conserving energy in the summertime? It’s got a whole different set of challenges… You need to stay cool!

Let your creativity come out with some natural air conditioning. Keep the air in your home moving naturally. And you can even use some fans in strategic places to keep everything cool. For some extra cold air, put a bowl of ice at the base of the fan. The fan will push the cool air from the bowl and around the room as the ice evaporates. You can also treat windows in a sheet that’s been treated with cold water. The cold and wet sheet will actually naturally cool the air that’s coming in the window.
Eat cool foods! Reducing the use of the stove is one way to cool your home off. Cook in bulk and freeze the meals—so you won’t have to cook every day. Find recipes that can be prepared and served cold. Cook outside if possible! And drink plenty of water.
If you have kids, find a great eco-friendly program for them this summer. They can get out and enjoy the world, and hang out in the air conditioning. (It would have been running whether your kids were there or not!)
Scout out free public water parks and pools.

Make environmentally friendly choices with the biodegradable products here at Whole Earth Packaging and a little bit of common sense this summer. You’ll be glad you did!
