There are many options here at Whole Earth Packaging to help you go green. But there are so many other ways you can make the world a better place. Here are some unique options you might not have thought of. After all, going green should be your goal in every aspect of your life!

Green Party! (No, not the political one…)
Use all of your go-green skills and hold a great bash. Start with recyclable invitations—or use e-vites. Use natural materials like terracotta and burlap for your centerpiece. Terracotta pots make great little candle holders! Serve organic appetizers on some biodegradable dishes and use our corn cutlery. Make sure you have somewhere for people to place all their recyclable goods.

Red and Green for Christmas
Put some green into the holiday season (hey, it’s not too far away!). Why not buy a potted tree? You’ll still have the great ambiance of the tree in your home, but when the season is over you can plant it in your yard. You can also recycle wrapping paper—or just use newspaper! Use twine and reusable ribbing and gift bags. Switch over to LED lights on the tree, too.

Remodeling? Do it the Green Way
You can go green easily by weather proofing your home. You’ll only need caulk and door sealers. Caulk up any gaps and add sealers around doors to prevent drafts from sneaking inside.

Any other unique ways to go green this year?

With the football season well on it’s way you may be thinking about throwing a football party. Keep the environment in mind the next time you invite friends and family over to cheer on your favorite team. This football season celebrate your teams incredible win’s by throwing an earth friendly football party!

Replace your paper and plastic party supplies with environmentally friendly party supplies. Whole Earth Packaging has variety of green party supplies including Chinet plates and bowls, corn cutlery and more!
Buy fruits and vegetables from your local farmers market, and serve them one a tray with dip. Look for organic fruits and vegetables, as they’re healthier for you, and the environment.
Don’t waste paper by mailing invitations! Send invitations out electronically via email.
If you’re grilling food for the party, use a propane grill. Propane burns cleaner than wood or charcoal and leaves behind less waste.
Serve vegetarian foods and organic beer.
If you’re watching the big game on your flat screen, and using surround sound, cut back on the use of other electronics in your home.
After the game, clean up with eco-friendly cleaners. Instead of paper towels, use an old t-shirt, towel or dishcloth.

Incorporate these green ideas into your next party, and have a good time while saving our planet!

Now that fall is nearly here, we’re all starting to change the way we do things. We might reach for the thermostat or find ourselves turning the lights on a lot earlier in the evening. Autumn and winter really tend to put a damper on your green living habits. So what can you do? Fortunately for you, Whole Earth Packaging has a few tips.

Light it up
Isn’t it just heartbreaking when your evening commute requires headlights? Once you’re home, you’ll turn the lights on. Eventually you’ll begin footing a bigger electric bill. Why not try living like light bulbs haven’t been invented yet? Light a candle! Replace your standard candles with soy candles. Soybeans are a sustainable and renewable resource, so they’re great for the earth! Plus, you’ll breathe a little bit easier when the electric bill arrives.

Warm up with Mother Nature
How do you keep your house or apartment warm without being detrimental to the environment? You have more options than just cranking up that thermostat! Make sure your home is weatherized. Close up gaps in doors, windows, and other entry points. Closing these gaps can save up to 15% in heating and cooling costs. Consider a fireplace insert, too. Fireplaces can suck more heat out of a house than they provide! An insert can make a fireplace 70-80% more efficient.

A few changes here and there can really make an impact on the environment. With the addition of biodegradable products, you’ll be in the green—even when there’s snow on the ground.

The majority of disposable spoons, forks, and other utensils are derived from petroleum. Petroleum-based products pose a risk to the environment during both the manufacturing process and disposal. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic utensils, there are many options out there for you. Biodegradable versions are made from sugar cane, corn starch, potatoes, or even soy. We have some quality biodegradable cutlery products right here at Whole Earth Packaging. Bioplastics can help you minimize your impact on the environment and help conserve precious resources for future generations.

When you throw your plastic utensils away, they eventually end up on landfills. Once landfills are filled to capacity, we’ll need to find other ways to store waste. Biodegradable utensils don’t need to go to landfills. They can simply be discarded in your compost bin. It’s more convenient, and it’s better for the environment.

When petroleum-based products are produced, they use petroleum by-products like propane and natural gas. This is a non-renewable resource that’s dwindling each year. Switching to biodegradable cutlery can, in the long run, reduce dependence on oil.

According to the High Country Conservation Center, waste disposal actually accounts for one third of all of the greenhouse gas emissions in America. Switching to more sustainable products can help to reduce these emissions and minimize global warming’s impact.
