Now that fall is nearly here, we’re all starting to change the way we do things. We might reach for the thermostat or find ourselves turning the lights on a lot earlier in the evening. Autumn and winter really tend to put a damper on your green living habits. So what can you do? Fortunately for you, Whole Earth Packaging has a few tips.

Light it up
Isn’t it just heartbreaking when your evening commute requires headlights? Once you’re home, you’ll turn the lights on. Eventually you’ll begin footing a bigger electric bill. Why not try living like light bulbs haven’t been invented yet? Light a candle! Replace your standard candles with soy candles. Soybeans are a sustainable and renewable resource, so they’re great for the earth! Plus, you’ll breathe a little bit easier when the electric bill arrives.

Warm up with Mother Nature
How do you keep your house or apartment warm without being detrimental to the environment? You have more options than just cranking up that thermostat! Make sure your home is weatherized. Close up gaps in doors, windows, and other entry points. Closing these gaps can save up to 15% in heating and cooling costs. Consider a fireplace insert, too. Fireplaces can suck more heat out of a house than they provide! An insert can make a fireplace 70-80% more efficient.

A few changes here and there can really make an impact on the environment. With the addition of biodegradable products, you’ll be in the green—even when there’s snow on the ground.
