Summer is the season for enjoying outdoor activities, but it’s also one of the best times of year to begin participating in an eco-friendly cause. Whether it’s picking up trash on the side of the road, educating others on the importance of buying biodegradable products, or taking part in an organization, the possibilities to do your part are endless!

Here are five great environmentally friendly programs and ideas we found:

  1. Plug-In to eCyclying – This cause is a partnership between the EPA and different consumer electronics manufacturers, retailers, and providers. Plug-In to eCyclying urges individuals to donate and recycle their old electronics, such as computers, cell phones, televisions, etc.
  2. Begin a recycling initiative in a public park. Everyone enjoys going to the park in the summer, especially when it’s clean and free of garbage. You can even get the entire community involved in this! Just speak with the parks central office or your local mayor.
  3. Find a small piece of land and start a community garden. This initiative is especially good for metropolitan areas.
  4. Educate your family about the importance of conserving water and energy.
  5. Get a group of people together to participate in an Adopt A Highway initiative in your town.

Are you part of an environmentally friendly program or initiative? If so, we want to hear about it! Leave us a comment with all of the details.
