We’re going to continue our series about Earth Day. Mark your calendars for April 22nd!

Did you know that children played a monumental role in getting Earth Day started? Senator Gaylord Nelson thought of creating a special day to celebrate the planet—largely because he worried about its fate. He talked to members of Congress and the president about pollution and other environmental issues. President Kennedy actually began visiting parts of the country to talk about these problems.

Senator Nelson still didn’t think enough was being done. He, along with some others, created Earth Day as a way to teach people about the importance of improving our environment. He wrote to various colleges, and posted an article in “Sholastic” magazine about Earth Day. He hoped that children would join in his efforts. The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970.

Today, Earth Day is celebrated across the world—not just in the US. Every year on April 22, millions of people get together to promote sustainable activities. You can contribute to this all year long by choosing biodegradable and compostable products from Whole Earth Packaging.

Earth Day is a little less than a month away, and it’s the perfect day to celebrate Mother Nature. Here at Whole Earth Packaging, we sell products that can help make the world a better place. We’ve got a few tips to help you celebrate April 22nd.

You can plan an Earth Day celebration meal. If you have the means to do so, plan a meal made with as many locally and sustainably produced products as possible. You can plan an elaborate breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner with locally produced ingredients. It’s still kind of early for local farmers’ markets, but food co-ops can be a great source for these items. We have many earth-friendly dishes and silverware to help you celebrate.

Planning a hands-on project for Earth Day can be very rewarding. Do the Earth a favor by enhancing the eco-system. Build a birdfeeder, mix birdseed for the rest of the season, plant butterfly, hummingbird, or bee flowers, or set up a makeshift birdbath in your yard. This is a great way to get the kids involved.

Celebrate Earth Day with your community! Check the newspaper for local Earth Day celebrations. It’s great to join others with a shared interest. Community Earth Day celebrations can include woodland or beach-work parties (depending on where you live), environment fundraisers, speakers, and taste-testing.

We’ll have more Earth Day tips as the time draws closer!

Here at Whole Earth Packaging, we want to make sure you have everything you need to help make the world a better place. We have some quality baby changing tables for use in public restrooms. Make life a little easier for the mothers that visit your business. They’re sure to appreciate it! Here are some guidelines for setting up bathroom baby changing tables.

Federal baby changing table regulations

  • Federal law doesn’t actually require changing tables in bathrooms. It’s still a great thing to consider to make your customers’ experience a bit easier. Where baby changing tables exist, they only accommodate children under 40 pounds.
  • Baby changing tables are considered a “customer courtesy.” See, there’s a difference between handicapped accessible bathrooms and restrooms with baby changing tables. The lack of a baby changing table is not a hindrance to equal access. However, consider the benefits of these functional items!
  • Think of baby changing tables as being on par with valet parking, on-site tailoring, or free samples. Your store or business will attract more customers if it offers certain amenities. With baby changing tables, you can open your doors to everyone.

Make your business more accommodating with baby changing tables from Whole Earth Packaging.

Keeping the Earth healthy is our responsibility. With BioBags from Whole Earth Packaging, you can do your part. Biodegradable and compostable garbage backs are a great way to keep huge amounts of trash out of disposal areas. After all, we throw garbage out of our homes, and it just adds up to a huge pile of trash. The population is increasing with each passing day, yet land space remains the same. That’s just one of the main reasons why BioBags are an ideal solution.

There are different types of degradable trash bags:

-Compostable. These bags break down more quickly than biodegradable bags. They’ll completely decompose in 10-45 days.
-Biodegradable. These bags break down into carbon dioxide and water when they are disposed of in commercial landfills. This process generally takes anywhere from 18-36 months.

The BioBags here at Whole Earth Packaging are 100% compostable and 100% biodegradable. They are made from the material Mater-Bi. BioBags are revolutionary, and they’ll completely compost in 30-60 days.

Think about the way we’re going to leave the Earth for our children. Do we really want our legacy to be billions of plastic bags? Let’s change the future one BioBag at a time!
