![]() The 4th of July is coming up soon, and we’re sure you have some great plans to celebrate. We’re an independent country, and we’re allowed to do pretty much anything we please (within reason, anyway). But how is that working out for Mother Earth? We can use as much fuel, energy, food, and water as we’d like. There aren’t any laws saying that we are only allowed a certain amount of gallons per month. The pursuit of happiness has changed significantly since that first 4th of July. How do you think our founding fathers would feel about the way we’re treating the land that they fought so hard for? This unsustainable lifestyle of ours is having an impact on the planet. There’s no doubt about that. What do we do about it? You can use eco-friendly and biodegradable products like the ones here at Whole Earth Packaging… but there’s so much more to do! You need to get out there and share your environmental consciousness with your local community. Many people feel threatened by the idea of composting and planting their garden—until they know someone that has done it themselves. Share your green experiences with your neighbors! This 4th of July, let’s celebrate the red, white, blue—and green! by: Whole Earth Packaging

![]() We’re all about keeping Mother Nature happy all year long. So how do you cope with the challenge of conserving energy in the summertime? It’s got a whole different set of challenges… You need to stay cool! • Let your creativity come out with some natural air conditioning. Keep the air in your home moving naturally. And you can even use some fans in strategic places to keep everything cool. For some extra cold air, put a bowl of ice at the base of the fan. The fan will push the cool air from the bowl and around the room as the ice evaporates. You can also treat windows in a sheet that’s been treated with cold water. The cold and wet sheet will actually naturally cool the air that’s coming in the window. • Eat cool foods! Reducing the use of the stove is one way to cool your home off. Cook in bulk and freeze the meals—so you won’t have to cook every day. Find recipes that can be prepared and served cold. Cook outside if possible! And drink plenty of water. • If you have kids, find a great eco-friendly program for them this summer. They can get out and enjoy the world, and hang out in the air conditioning. (It would have been running whether your kids were there or not!) • Scout out free public water parks and pools. Make environmentally friendly choices with the biodegradable products here at Whole Earth Packaging and a little bit of common sense this summer. You’ll be glad you did!

![]() One of our favorite R.E.M. songs is “Orange Crush.” Oddly enough, it’s off of their album Green… so many colors! Anyway, it’s such a cool song. It’s about the chemical defoliant Agent Orange that was used during the Vietnam War. Lead singer Michael Stipe once explained that the song was about a young American that left the comforts of home so that he could fight the war in Vietnam. It’s kind of deep and dark, but the song is a really great rock piece. It fits perfectly with Orange Cush herbal incense. It’s a great new blend that combines the sweet citrus of an orange with the relaxing qualities of herbal botanicals. You’ll probably love it as much as we do. The weekend is just about here, so you might as well spend some time relaxing. There’s no better way to do it than with some herbal incense and good music. While you’re at it, listen to R.E.M.’s Green in its entirety. It’s a fabulous snapshot of late ‘80s alternative music. You can listen to “Pop Song 89,” “Stand,” and the aforementioned (and completely appropriate) “Orange Crush.” Light up some Orange Cush herbal incense and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. by: Whole Earth Packaging
