Here are a few ways that you can have an environmentally friendly Memorial Day picnic. Enjoy! 1. Try to stay local. Just drive less, walk, bike, or take public transportation. You’ll save gas and reduce pollutants. You’ll even get some exercise! 2. Use some reusables! Find napkins, containers, and utensils that you can use over again. If you do this often enough, you’ll decrease your use of new resources—and save money in the long run. 3. Recycle. This is an obvious thing, but so many people overlook it. 4. Choose fresh, local, and organic foods. When you support local farms, you’re taking care of the environment. It takes 9 pounds of wheat to produce 1 pound of meat, so eating veggies is so much better for the environment. 5. Leave it neater than you found it. When you’re picnicking in a public area, you might find some garbage left behind. Pick it up and leave the area neater than it was when you got there! 6. Take the time to enjoy the weather and learn a little bit about clouds. Watching the sky can really put Mother Earth in perspective. You can find some great biodegradable goods here at Whole Earth Packaging to help you have an awesome Memorial Day picnic.
