![]() We’ve got a wide variety of bulk herbs here at Whole Earth Packaging… and we think they’re all quite interesting. They have such a wide variety of uses, histories, and meanings. Today we’re going to look at the passionflower leaf. Passionflower is a hardy and woody vine that grows up to 10 meters long and puts of tendrils—so it can climb up and over other plants in the rainforest canopy. The flowers are large, white, and quite gorgeous. They usually have pink or purple centers. It produces a delicious fruit about the size of a large lemon. There are over 200 species of passionflower vines in South America and North America. Where’d the name come from? Spanish missionaries thought that the passionflower represented some of the objects associated with the crucifixion. Hence: passion.
