April is Lawn and Garden Month. Take part in this proactive month by learning how to care for your lawn and garden in an environmentally friendly manner. In celebration of Lawn & Garden here are some eco-friendly tips on taking care of your lawn and garden.

  • Set buckets outside to collect water when it rains. Store the water, and use it to water your plants.
  • Moss growing in the driveway, sidewalk or garden is a sign that you’re over watering your lawn.
  • After cutting the grass, recycle the trimming by turning them into mulch that can be used to fertilize the lawn.
  • Use mulch in flower beds, vegetable gardens, around the bases of trees and shrubs. Mulch stabilizes the soil temperature, prevents weeds from growing, feeds the soil, and conserves water.
  • Water plants, gardens, and the lawn in the early morning. Watering in the middle of the day is pointless, since the water just evaporates and watering during the early evening encourages the growth of mold and plant diseases.

Start living an eco-friendly lifestyle by changing the way you take care of your lawn and garden. You can even make small changes and be more environmentally friendly inside your home by using eco-friendly products, such as Nature Works products, Chinet dinnerware, and other eco-friendly products from WholeEarthPackaging.com.
