![]() Recycling is one of the best ways to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle. During our last blog post we talked about how to recycle items such as glass jars, fire extinguishers, printer cartridges and other items. This blog post will teach you how to recycle things like recreational equipment, notebooks, tin foil and other household products. Recreation / Sports Equipment – Donate gently used sports equipment to your local good will store, so others can find enjoyment out of your used sports equipment. Rugs – Check with your local recycling center to see if they recycle cotton and wool rugs. If they don’t recycle rugs, donate your gently used rugs to your local good will store. Shopping Bags – Many stores have a drop off to collect plastic shopping bags for recycling purposes. Paper shopping bags can be recycled with the rest of your paper recycling. Smoke Detectors – Check with your town’s recycling center to see if they accept old or broke smoke detectors. Soap Dispensers (Plastic) – Plastic soap dispensers can be recycled with the rest of your plastic recyclables. Spiral Notebooks – Recycle spiral notebooks along with the rest of your paper recycling Tin Foil – After rinsing off used tin foil, recycle it with your cans. Tissue Boxes – Recycle tissue boxes with the rest of your cardboard recycling. Window Envelopes – You can recycle envelopes with plastic windows just as you would other paper recycling. Now that you know how to recycle many common household items you can start saving our environment by implementing a recycling program in your home. Do you have a recycling question?
