Lately, many businesses have been taking the extra step to help make their business friendlier for the environment. Companies like Yahoo, Adobe, Nike, Johnson & Johnson, and IBM have processes in place that help employees live a greener lifestyle. Even actress, Jessica Alba, has jumped on the eco-friendly bandwagon - her e-commerce company, Honest.com, sells eco-friendly and toxic-free baby products and household items. Here are some small changes you can take to make your business a greener.

  • Insist customers bring their own reusable shopping bags, or use eco-friendly bags.
  • Use eco-friendly cleaners for all cleaning purposes, and instead of using paper towels use dish towels.
  • Turn off and unplug any appliances or electronics when they’re not in use.
  • Don’t print any documents unless you absolutely have to.
  • Implement a recycling program. Buy several containers and mark them for glass, plastic, paper, compost, aluminum, etc. You can even send out a company wide email explaining the new recycling program to all employees.
  • Environmentally friendly packaging is one of the most important things to implement into an eco-friendly business. At Whole Earth Packaging, we have Nature Works and Chinet takeout containers and dinnerware products.

Begin taking small steps to turn your business into an environmentally friendly place to work, and you’ll save the environment, money and improve your company’s moral.
